About

Yuchen Xi is a Chinese artist working in painting and drawing. She is a third-year student in the BFA Studio Art program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the United States.

She believes that one’s identities vary and overlap with each other. These identities are deeply connected to one’s experiences, habits, and how one analyzes one’s inner self. Her art is an extension of what she has written and received. Having conversations with one another can never express these poetic hidden identities, so her works spontaneously reflect her patch-like life stories and simultaneously depict a vision of her future. They combine fragmental space/planes and creativity of unworldly inner objects. The aim is to collect all of the meaningful embodiments in her spiritual landscapes and study the mutuality between the physical space and the spiritual world.
